Chiminyo x ØTIC - Stereo For The Masses
Wonky beats and psychedelic rave culture meet UK-Jazz in this fresh new sonic alliance from UK producers Chiminyo and ØTIC. The album fuses ØTIC’s expansive world of analogue synthesisers with Chiminyo’s virtuosic broken beats, alongside a host of guest features from stars of the London jazz scene, including Theon Cross, Binker Golding, Zara McFarlane, and acclaimed spoken-word artists Louis VI, Afronaut Zu and Zia Ahmed.

Described by Clash magazine as “the boldest percussionist in the country”, Chiminyo’s music has reached critical acclaim with support from the likes of Gilles Peterson, BBC 1Xtra and Jazz FM. His tech-heavy drum set-up combines the raw, immediate live sound of percussion with the futuristic timbres of his electronic productions to create his own, daring sound world. Aside from his solo project and his series of acclaimed “NRG” collaborations, Chiminyo performs and records with some of the leading figures of London’s music scene, including spiritual jazz-leaning outfit Maisha and psychedelic energy bomb Cykada, and has worked with artists including Gary Bartz, Shabaka Hutchins and Wonky Logic.

ØTIC
Performer, composer and music producer ØTIC (Al MacSween) has had an extensive music career, developing a unique voice that spans multiple genres, including jazz, electronic music, contemporary classical, Turkish psychedelia, Indian classical music, Afro-Cuban music and various forms of folk music. They’ve collaborated extensively with artists including The Cinematic Orchestra, Nubya Garcia, Gary Bartz, Sarathy Korwar, Maya Youssef, Eddie Chacon and Ruby Turner OBE, is founder of award-winning group Kefaya, described by The Guardian as “one of the most intriguing new bands of the year”, and has performed for world-renowned venues, music festivals, TV and radio stations across the globe.
